Satmission Launches High Performance Drive-Away Broadcast Satellite Antenna System At IBC 2014 (Stand OE106)

August 20, 2014.  Kalix, Sweden: Satmission AB, a leading supplier of satellite uplink broadcast solutions, will be celebrating ten successful years in business and showcasing the Satmission Streamline SMP 155DA Antenna, a new drive-away broadcast satellite antenna system at IBC 2014 (12-16 September).

SatmissionIBCVisitors to the company’s Stand OE106 in the RAI’s outdoor exhibit area will be able to see the high performance, high gain Antenna system installed in a Land Rover Discovery DSNG vehicle, designed and built by Broadcast Networks.  The all-terrain vehicle supports live SD and HD feeds, with voice and internet communications, making it ideally suited for live sports and news events.

The Antenna, which has an impressive aerodynamic design, is optimised to meet stringent weight budgets and is equipped with a redundant/phase-combined 400W amplifier system from Communications & Power Industries (CPI) resulting in an EIRP above 70 dBW.

With minimal antenna weight and low structural profile, installation onto the Land Rover Discovery was easy. The ultra-low profile and weight also enable a traveling speed up to an extreme 220km/h. The streamline spoiler form of the stowed DSNG Antenna allows it to be driven comfortably at high speeds with impressive industry-leading eco-driving and environmentally friendly qualities. The Antenna is rugged and all outdoor equipment is safely and securely protected inside the pod casing.

The Antenna is of Gregorian dual-offset design and made of Carbon Fiber, and is compliant with Eutelsat, Intelsat and FCC requirements. The typical deployment time is less than one minute, and the system is equipped with GPS, Fluxgate Compass and DVB2 receiver.

“The Streamline SMP 155DA is the lowest and lightest complete drive-away antenna system on the market and we’re delighted to be launching it at IBC,” says Arto Brushane, CEO Satmission.

“The system is easy to operate, intelligently designed and adapted to suit our clients’ demands.  It’s vehicle agnostic, which makes it a simple yet powerful solution to deploy in DSNG fleets working in any terrain and climate.”
