Visual Unity Debuts At IBC 2011
With
Multiscreen SI & Award-winning vuMedia Platform.

1 September, 2011. Prague, London, Dubai: This IBC will see the debut of Visual Unity: a new breed of Multiscreen System Integrator (MSI) focused on truly integrated workflow solutions that allow broadcasters worldwide to effectively deliver and monetise their content.

On Stand 3.C35, Visual Unity will demonstrate how their Multiscreen Systems Integration (MSI) services help broadcasters to effectively integrate web and mobile delivery into their existing workflows and improve operational performance, to meet the content demands of today’s audiences and secure future revenues. Visual Unity will also present their vuMedia platform that enables broadcasters to enter the challenging world of multiscreen media.

Visual Unity launched operations earlier this year, borne out of the respected international SI Visual Connection (latterly KIT digital Czech).  Lead by President Tomas Petru and CEO Jakub Kabourek, the team has more than 20 years experience with a proven record in the design & delivery of broadcast-IT convergent solutions for global brands, helping providers to meet the growing demand for online and mobile content. The company is based in Prague with offices in London, Dubai and Belgrade, supported by a 60-strong team including 20 in-house software developers.

“Broadcasters who haven’t yet implemented a multiscreen strategy are missing out on more than 78% of today’s potential audience and a demographic of future big spenders” says Petru. “For those already providing multiscreen services, the process is too often labour-intensive and disjointed from their main workflow, with the selection and preparation of non-linear content still performed manually.”  He continues:  “In this dynamic environment, very few traditional broadcast System Integrators have the IT skills to deliver a truly integrated multiscreen platform. As a Multiscreen Systems Integrator (MSI), Visual Unity offers extensive IP video expertise combined with an inherent understanding of traditional broadcast operations. This allows us to optimise existing broadcast workflows to efficiently deliver web and mobile content, from the point of content planning and creation to distribution and audience engagement.“

At IBC, Visual Unity will also be showcasing vuMedia: the company’s newly-branded integrated management and Content Delivery Network platform.  Designed to give content owners complete control over how their assets and brand are managed, vuMedia comprises four highly robust and scalable modules that can be seamlessly deployed into existing workflows to manage, automate and monitor multiscreen delivery:

  • vuChannel for web-based  and mobile viewing, fully integrated into the station backend;
  • vuDemand for comprehensive VOD services, including billing & reporting;
  • vuMobile for mobile content and applications;
  • vuNet providing Content Delivery Network (CDN) for extended secure control over distribution and user-experience management in areas where the Cloud is either not available, is too expensive or unfavourably shifts control to other operators.

Jakub Kabourek, CEO Visual Unity says: “vuMedia is the latest generation of a multiscreen delivery platform originally conceived and brought to market by our Czech development team in 1998.  Since that time it has been successfully deployed by clients worldwide to deliver sports, news, entertainment and music content to wide range of connected devices. The platform’s robust and modular architecture provides broadcasters and content owners with almost unlimited scalability, full redundancy, geographical distribution, virtualised services and automatic fail-over features.”

The recent success of vuMedia has led Visual Unity to be shortlisted for two IBC Connected World 2011 awards, based on the platform’s deployment at Czech TV’s iVysilani.cz service. This online service allows viewers to watch one of four Czech TV channels either in pristine HD quality via a web-based player or at lower bit rate streams on any mobile device. Viewers can also access an enormous online archive with more than 150 000 News and TV programmes (more than 1800 days of footage) at various quality levels, covering the whole spectrum of playback devices.

Petru concludes: “We are delighted to be launching Visual Unity at IBC this year. As the industry faces the most significant paradigm shift in the last decade, the company is well placed – with our unique blend of Multiscreen Systems Integration services and software development skills – to provide broadcasters and content owners with clear direction on how to effectively reach new audiences on new screens in new ways.”

Visual Unity will be co-exhibiting with sister company UNITY Mobile at IBC 2011 (9-13 September, the RAI Centre, Amsterdam) on Stand 3.C35.
